Review - Olight S10 EDC Flashlight

As somebody who is conscious of their EDC (Everyday Carry) Gear, I'm always looking for the best and brightest (and smallest) flashlight. In the search for such a light, I recently came across the Olight S10-L2 Baton.

The S10 Baton, combines incredible brightness with good runtime and great functionality, all in a small package.

The Olight S10-L2 is an amazing EDC Flashlight.
What you first notice when picking up the S10 is just how small it is. It is 2.8" long and 0.9" in diameter. The light is constructed out of aluminum and is type III hard anodized in black for strength. The grip area is well textured and easy to hold.

The S10 uses a CREE XM-L2 LED that outputs a whopping 400 lumens out of a single CR123 battery. The light also has different modes that are less blinding and provide a longer runtime.

Here are all of the S10 lighting modes:
Max: 400 lumens - 1.25 hours runtime
Medium: 85 lumens - 7.5 hours runtime
Low: 5 lumens - 108 hours runtime
Moonlight: .5 lumens - 360 hours runtime
Strobe: 400 lumens

The modes are switched with a blue switch on the side of the light. The operation of the light is a little complicated at first, but can be learned with some practice. Instead of trying to explain how to operate the light, just look at the image below.

Instructions on how to change modes on the Olight S10.
The S10 provides a fairly floody beam, great for short to medium-range use. The reflector has orange-peel texturing to aid in providing a soft light. The flashlight also comes in a Neutral-White version, which has a whiter-colored LED, but has a 360 lumen brightness, as opposed to 400 for the standard version.

For easy carry, the S10-L2 has a
deep-carry pocket clip.
The S10 is a great carry light because of it's excellent pocket clip. The clip is removable and carries very deep in the pocket. In case you feel like going swimming, the S10 is also rated waterproof to 2 meters, but I'm sure it will go deeper and still be fine.

Great for lighting up a room, the S10's flat tailcap allows the light to be stood up in what's called "candle mode". This allows the light to be reflected off of a ceiling, even brightly illuminating a medium-sized room.

One "hidden" feature that the S10 has is an integrated magnet in the tail. This allows you to stick the light to any ferrous surface, similar to the Preon P0 and Atom Series of flashlights by FOURSEVENS.

Do I think that Olight S10 is a great EDC light? HECK YES! If you're looking for a bright, compact and functional flashlight, and don't mind using CR123 batteries, which can be sometimes difficult to find, then the S10 may be your perfect flashlight.

Do any of you have any experience with the Olight S10? If so, let me know in the comments below.
